The club is very excited to have Todd Haywood as our Program Director. Todd’s ski experience includes racing at World Cups, Olympics and multiple World Championships for his home nation of New Zealand. He also brings a wealth of coaching experience and leadership to the team. It is excited to continue the tradition of excellence that our program’s has always provided.
Calgary Alpine is pleased to announce the addition of Victor Dockal to the the FIS Program. Victor possesses extensive racing and coaching background from the European alpine racing circuit. He has been involved with alpine ski racing in Canada since 2005 and contributed significantly to the development of programs and individual athletes.
I am looking forward to passing on my knowledge and love of ski racing to the next generation of athletes. I just retired last spring after four years with the Alberta Ski Team and am now attending Mount Royal University working towards a Bachelor of Health & Physical Education. I am planning to use this as a stepping stone to become a Physiotherapist. I have coached a couple camps with the Alberta Womens Ski Team and look forward to further developing my coaching skills while working with the CARC FIS Athletes this season.
Calgary Alpine is pleased to announce the addition of Mike White to the U16 Program. Mike comes over from the FAST side where he spent over 14 years as a coach and athlete. His coaching experience ranges from Nancy Greene up to FIS. Mike has already been busy this season coaching the U16 and U18 teams at Mt. Hood in August and through a rigorous dryland program.
Alexey has joined the club as a Head Coach of the U-14 Team for the 2014-2015 season . He has been coaching in Alberta since 2002. Over the past 10 years he successfully trained ski racers at Lake Louise Ski Club and WinSport Academy. He truly believes that hard work and determination plus passion for ski racing will bring desirable results. His motto “Ski fast and leave a narrow track”. In his free time he runs a delivery business and attends continued education courses at UofC. Alexey has a Bachelor of Physical Education and is CSIA-3 certified and CSCF-3 trained.
Cam is excited to be returning to his home club as a coach! He enjoyed an 18 year career that included skiing for CARC, the Alberta Ski Team, the Canadian Development team and racing NCAA for the University of Alaska Anchorage. Cam now works full time for Shell Canada. He is looking forward to getting out of the office and being the assistant coach for the U14 group – working hard and having a ton of fun is the name of the game!
Chris leads the U12 team for another season in 2012/13. Chris has a long history of experience with ski racing in Alberta, racing for Rabbit Hill and the Northern Alberta Ski Team back in the day. After cutting his teeth coaching in Ontario while attending university, Chris returned to Alberta and continues to focus on the U12 age group in combination with a full-time engineering career in Calgary. Chris has coached all levels from Entry Level to FIS over his 10+ years of experience and also has experience as a sailing coach. With his depth of sporting background, Chris looks to introduce U12 athletes to key fundamentals of training and competition with respect and sportsmanship paramount.
Kieren has been a member of Calgary Alpine since 2004. He finished racing in the 2011/2012 season at the FIS level, and moved into coaching the following season. This is now his third year coaching the U10 age level, and first as the KD U10 Head Coach. Kieren looks forward to developing his young athletes into racers, and passing on the love of the sport to his team.
