Calgary Alpine Race Club
The history of the club dates back to 1975 where athletes skied at at Mt Norquay. At that time the club was known as the Mount Norquay Racing Club. In 2002 the club moved to Nakiska Ski Resort (host of the alpine events of the 1988 Olympic Games) and changed its name to Calgary Alpine Racing Club ("CARC").
CARC is a full service family oriented ski club. With Nakiska, being only a short 49 minute drive from Calgary, our location at Nakiska Ski Resort is extremely convenient. We also provide transportation from Canada Olympic Park to Nakiska for K1, K2 and Junior/FIS Programs.
We have a full selection of programs for Kinder, and we are developing our FIS Junior program with Sean Cameron, our Technical Director (CSIA IV, CSCF III).
Our Kinder programs are capped at 13 and 14 for K1 and K2. This limit ensures the athletes get quality coaching and training. A number of our kinder athletes have been selected to participate in provincial and national training camps as well as represent Alberta at International Kinder races.
By operating our programs out of both Nakiska Resort and Canada Olympic Park (COP), we are able to provide an excellent mix of both Mountain experience and convenience. Weekends are spent in the mountains, while our mid-weeks are typically spent at COP.
Currently, Calgary Alpine is pleased to have 3 athletes Ski Racing with the Alberta Provincial Teams, 1 on the Canadian Development Team and 1 on the Canadian National World Cup Team (John Kucera). John was the first Candian to win a World Cup speed event at Lake Louise.
