Experience a Variety of Racing Styles

This program is the final introductory step into competitive ski racing where 12 and 13 year old athletes are exposed to even more new experiences and racing styles on their skis. The U14 program is a seasonal program that begins with Dryland in early September. Dryland sessions are varied and work on improving physical awareness, motor development, cardiovascular capacity, strength and flexibility. All of these elements combine to build strong, healthy athletes who will be more efficient on snow.

This 75+ day program, including 1-2 Christmas Camps, involves technical free skiing, drill courses, a number of different race styles and of course, even more fun! Regular training involves skiing at COP 1-2 evenings per week, occassional Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays spent at Nakiska, 0r away at races. Night training at COP usually consist of technical free skiing, as well as slalom and dual slalom gate training. We generally train slalom and giant slalom at Nakiska on the weekends when we have a wide selection of terrain to chose from.

These will compete in the traditional Slalom and Giant Slalom disciplines but will also be introduced to Super G which includes a speed camp. At the U14 level, we emphasis the elements of the AIM Document as set out by Alpine Canada.

Please consider local area discount cards or possible all area passes for away races and occasional free ski days.
